FTW is a registered UK charity [no 1123885] with an extensive international network of individuals, international chapters and associate organisations that work together to further the charity's objective of promoting equality and diversity and racial (and religious) harmony for the public benefit by:
- Advancing education and raising awareness in equality and diversity and about different racial groups to promote good relations between persons of different racial groups
- Promoting activities to foster understanding between people from diverse backgrounds and to promote good relations
- Promoting knowledge and mutual understanding between different racial (and religious) groups
- Cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity
UK Trustees
All of the Trustees of the Charity give their time voluntarily to the organisation.
DETTA REGAN
Founder / Director
Has been a Youth and Community worker for 30 years, getting involved in International cultural and social youth exchanges. In her role as a trainer travelling the world, she visited the Middle East. A desire grew to raise the profile of women and children in the region. As a keen cyclist, she was told that she could not cycle in the Middle East as people would look at you. She realised that she could use the bicycle as a vehicle to get noticed and FTW was born.
ROSE DONOVAN
Chair
Rose works as an Independent Consultant specialising in Information and Data Sharing and Children's Social Care Services. Committed to the aims and objectives of Follow the Women, took part in the 2007 bike ride and hopes to do so again in the future.
ABBY MAGHRIBI
Media / PR
Got involved in FTW in 2007. Visiting friends in Latakia, Syria, she was invited on the bike ride, for the Syrian part of the bike ride. She enjoyed it so much she stayed and completed the whole ride. Now living in London, she has the FTW bug and joined the UK Trustee team earlier this year.
MIMI FAGAN
Secretary
Took part in the 2007 bike ride, after reading an article in the London Times. She has since joined the UK Trustees as Secretary. Mimi has been involved in Children's Social Care Services for 30 years and has had a long standing interest in the Middle East.
STEPHANIE MORTON
Membership
Has been involved in FTW since the beginning, Taking part in cycle ride in the first two years but now part of the technical team as first aid support. Works full time as a Specialist Nurse in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Passionate believer in FTW. Hobbies include cooking and reading.
ELAINE WEALLEANS
Trustee
Has been par t of FTW since its conception and is the countries co-ordinator for the cycle rides. A senior youth support worker for local government., involving as many young people as possible in youth exchanges, particularly with the Middle East. Passionate about Palestine. Enjoys cycling, sport and food
SHIRLEY CLARKE
Treasurer
Has been involved with FTW since 2005, Taking part in cycle rides and youth exchanges. Working full time in the IT industry. A part time youth worker for 12 years and school governor interested in supporting women and children groups. Hobbies include cycling.
