Follow The Women is delighted to announce that we have made a significant donation to MAP – Medical Aid for Palestine, to support their emergency response work in Gaza, as an international women’s peace organisation supporting projects in the Middle East.

Follow The Women’s core purpose is to empower women to take action to improve the lives of people in the Middle East and to support human rights for all. We run the ‘Pedal for Peace’ bike rides which bring together women from over 30 countries around the world to cycle together and support peace in the region.  Through our work we have raised funds which enable us to support programmes in the Middle East and we’re delighted that we are able to support MAP’s vital work in Gaza.

The situation in Gaza today remains dire following the devastating attacks of summer 2014 which killed 2,000 people and injured 11,000. Hundreds of people still require treatment and rehabilitation following serious injuries sustained during the war on Gaza and many thousands more are still unable to return to their homes.

This donation to MAP help them to respond: With hospitals still working to treat and follow up with patients injured, we must make sure they have the equipment, disposable supplies and medicines they need.  Despite a fantastic response to our Gaza crisis appeal last summer, which resulted in the Gaza Central Medicine Store being well stocked for the first time in years, medicines are now running desperately low again: 25% of essential items are now back at ‘zero stock’. This donation will help us refill the shelves again and allow doctors and surgeons to give patients the treatment they need.

By supporting Map, we are also be able to provide additional blankets and emergency kits for those displaced from their homes and training and hands on assistance to on-going conditions.
